I am drawn to gardens and almost wild places where the poetry of nature inspires me to investigate landscapes, which have always been my favourite subject. My intention is to interpret the depth and emotion of gardens. Although I would describe my work as representational, my focus is how I paint - brush strokes, subtle shifts of colour, luminous layers and disappearing marks.

The strength of my work is in it’s expressive qualities, elegant and unruly, exploring places remembered or forgotten - the imaginary. I strive to capture the essence of places by looking for the abstract elements in nature; abstract qualities bring a sense freedom to my paintings.
